We have identified several issues when rendering .xls files created with an older Office version to PDF:

MS Excel Spreadsheet (1): Plots rendering wrong. The legend and axes get boxes around the values. The equations are also rendering incorrectly. Equal signs appear like boxes.

MS Excel Spreadsheet (2): The scale changes from the original and there are some missing values in the scale.

Hello,

Thanks for your inquiry.
I converted your files with the latest Spire.XLS for Python Version:14.4.4 and reproduced most of the issues you mentioned, but failed to reproduce the issue of legends turning into boxes. I uploaded my conversion results for your reference. I have logged the issues I reproduced into our tracking system as SPIREXLS-5340 and SPIREXLS-5339. Our development team will further fix them. For legends issue, to help us investigate further, please provide us with your test code and tell us your test environment (e.g.Windows 10). Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,
William

Hello,

Thank you for your follow-up.
Sorry, since the document you provided is in xls format instead of xlsx format, the document structure of this format is very complex and the investigation is difficult, so there is no breakthrough progress at present. Our development team will investigate further and I will notify you if there is any progress. Thank you for your understanding.

Sincerely,
William
